Men's soccer to host Alabama-Huntsville on Tuesday

Storylines 

  • In the season opener on Saturday, Lipscomb defeated Evansville 3-1 at home in their first official game in over 450 days. 

  • Freshmen Javanne Smith and Tyrese Spicer combined to score all three goals, with Smith notching two and Spicer slotting home one. Smith also assisted Spicer on his goal. 

  • Hayes Wood also earned an assist in the win over the Aces. 

  • Lipscomb and UAH haven't met since 2003 when the Chargers won 3-1 in Nashville. 


Scouting the Chargers 

  • This is UAH's first contest of the 2021 season. 

  • In 2019, the Chargers finished 7-9-3 with a 4-4-3 record in the Gulf South Conference. 

  • They advanced to the semifinals of the 2019 GSC Tournament as a 7-seed. 

  • Rafa Moreno was the team's leading scorer with nine goals and one assist. 


Herd Notes

  • Junior Noah Gulden was voted the ASUN Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. The two-time All-Conference honoree was one of three players unanimously selected to the Preseason All-Conference team. 

  • The Bisons were picked second in the Preseason Coaches Poll, securing 49 points and one first-place vote.

  • Alongside Noah Gulden, other key Bisons returnees include 2018 All-Freshman Team members Scott Gulden and Louis Robinson. 

  • Head coach Charles Morrow returns for his 16th season as head coach. During his tenure, Lipscomb has won two ASUN titles, made two NCAA Tournament appearances, and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2018. 

  • On Saturday, Spicer, Smith, and William Turner started their first game as a Bison, while Wyland Worley, Kyle Sutton, and Austin Marfell also made their Purple and Gold debuts. 

  • Three Bisons were handed yellow cards in the win: Robinson, Thomas Priest, and Michael Sibley.
