Bisons fall to #1 FGCU in the ASUN Championship Semifinals

Box Score KENNESAW – #4 Lipscomb fell 59-44 to #1 FGCU in the ASUN Championship Semifinal at the KSU Convocation Center Friday afternoon.

Dorie Harrison lead the squad with 13 points and seven rebounds and senior Taylor Clark also poured in 11 points.

The Bisons held the Eagles to 28-percent from the floor and held ASUN Player of the Year, Kierstan Bell to a season-low nine points.

It was a slow start from both teams, with neither team scoring for nearly four minutes. FGCU finally broke the scoring drought to take a 2-0 lead.

The bucket sparked Lipscomb's offense as Jordan Peete answered with a driving layup to even things out.

After trading points, Jane Deason nailed a three-pointer to give Lipscomb a 7-4 lead, its first of the afternoon, at the 2:50 mark of the first quarter.

The Eagles answered with an 8-0 run to end the first frame with a 12-7 lead.

In the second quarter the Bisons came out hot going on an 8-0 run. Dorie Harrison scored back-to-back buckets that energized the Lipscomb squad.

Keeping the over four-minute run going was Taylor Clark who capped off the 11-0 run with a dagger triple to give Lipscomb an 18-15 lead at the 6:06 mark of the second quarter.

Lipscomb seemingly had all the momentum and forced a FGCU shot clock violation and timeout.

Out of the timeout, the Eagles went on an 11-0 run of their own to end the first half with a 23-18 lead.

Jalyn Holcomb came out of the gate firing on all cylinders in the second half, scoring the first points of the second half from behind the arc.
The Eagles continued to score consistently, but the Bisons continued to fight. Clark kept things close with a driving layup to make the score 36-25 with just over three minutes left in the third quarter.

However, the Eagles extended their lead, 42-27 after three full quarters.

The Bisons still had fight left in them heading into the fourth quarter. After an early FGCU bucket, Clark sparked an 8-0 run with a driving layup to get the squad back within single digits (35-44).

FGCU responded with back-to-back triples to extend its lead back out 50-35 heading into the final media timeout.

Lipscomb fought hard to the final buzzer, but ultimately fell 59-44 in the ASUN Championship semifinal.

The Bisons finished the season 12-10 overall and 8-6 overall in conference play. This season marks the first winning season for Lipscomb Women's Basketball since the 2003-04 season and the most wins since the 2004-05 season.
