Women's Tennis ousts North Alabama

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb women's tennis team wrapped up its home slate with a 5-2 victory over North Alabama at the Huston-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center in the home finale.

The Bisons improve to 7-7 overall and 2-1 in league play with the win.

Lipscomb would start the match with great intensity as the purple and gold claimed the opening doubles point to get the day started. It marks the 5^th-straight outing the Bisons have clinched doubles.

On court 1, Lipscomb's pair of Kate Popova and Anja Trbeznik cruised to a 6-2 win before Maddox Bandy and Perri Howard clinched on court 3 with a 6-1 decision.

In singles action, UNA evened the match on the top line defeating Popova in straight sets. The Bisons then responded with three straight wins to secure the victory.

All three matches ended in straight sets with Bandy winning 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6. On the third line, Sasha Dobranos made quick work with a 6-1, 6-4 decision before Trbeznik swept 6-4, 7-5 on court 4.

Junior Liza Diachenko fought hard to pull out the 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 victory on the fifth line and round out the scoring.

UP NEXT
Lipscomb hits the road for its final three matches of the regular season. Next weekend the Bisons travel to Liberty on Thursday and Bellarmine on Saturday. Both matches have a 10 a.m. start time.
