Women's Tennis Falls to #1S North Florida in ASUN Semifinals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The 2021 season came to an end Friday evening for women's tennis in Jacksonville, Florida as the North's No. 3 Bisons lost to 5-time defending ASUN champion North Florida 4-0 in the semifinals of the conference tournament at the UNF Tennis Complex.
Lipscomb wrapped up its season 10-9 overall, while UNF improved to 16-7 as the top seed in the south division.
The earned the advantage early with the doubles point and never looked back as they advanced to their sixth-straight ASUN Championship Final.
No. 2 pairing Liza Diachenko and Sasha Dobranos fell 6-2, before a 6-4 defeat from Kate Popova and Anja Trbeznik on court one sealed the point for UNF.
The Bisons were unable to pick up any steam in singles as the Ospreys swept the first three matches and held the advantage in the second set of the other three matchups.
UNF earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5, before Lucia Montano knocked off Popova 6-0, 6-2 on the top line. The Ospreys clinched the match on court two with a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Emma Zakordoniec.
Lipscomb's defeat made it five times in the last six seasons against the Ospreys in the ASUN semifinals.
