Shelby Craft named to ASUN Conference Fall Winners for Life Team

ATLANTA, Ga. - The ASUN Conference recognized its 2021-22 Fall Winners for Life team Tuesday. The team is composed of one student-athlete from each of the 12 institutions and honors those who display excellence on and off the playing surface.

Lipscomb's Shelby Craft, the 2021 ASUN Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year, earned a cumulative GPA of 3.9 as an Exercise Science major. Craft has been a volunteer with the Raleigh Dream Center where she participates in providing meals and playing soccer with an underserved population. The 2021 ASUN Women's Soccer Tournament MVP is also a part of the Leadership Summit led by Chris Koltz. She helped Lipscomb to 13 shutouts and the program's third ASUN title and NCAA Tournament appearance during the fall.

Elyssa Francis, who holds a 3.73 GPA as an Exercise Science/Pre-Physical Therapy at Bellarmine, was named to the 2021 ASUN Women's Soccer All-Tournament team. She finished the season ranked fourth in the league in save percentage (.833), fifth in goals-against average (0.92), fifth in saves (75) and tied for fifth in shutouts (4). She posted shutouts against Northern Kentucky, Southern Illinois, Jacksonville and Eastern Kentucky. She has been a part of SAAC since her sophomore year, recently got involved in FCA and participated in several volunteer coaching/training opportunities for younger players.

 
A 2021 Women's Soccer All-Conference Team selection, Central Arkansas' Gracie Hair completed a total of 40 hours of community service in the fall and spring. Hair volunteered at multiple community events such as the "Thank-a-thon", Freezing for a Reason 5K, and Samaritan's Feet Shoes of Hope event. The Senior has posted a cumulative GPA of 3.83 as a Health Services Administration while being an active member of UCA's SAAC. She started in all 18 games for UCA as a defender while recording two goals and three assists on the season.

Molly Michalak is one of Eastern Kentucky's most active student-athletes in civic engagement. She is a SAAC rep, captain of the Volleyball team and head of the awareness committee at SAAC meetings. She led the Colonels on the court with 3.01 kills per set and upholds the highest standards for herself off the floor, being active in the community through campus clean-ups, Campus Rec the Ravine Night volunteering, Operation Christmas Child, and volunteering at Women's Soccer and International Student-Athlete Nights.

FGCU's Dana Axner has been a member of the Eagles Council (SAAC) for the past two years and is currently one of 13 student-athletes in the E.A.G.L.E. Leadership Institute for 2021-22. She has 80 hours of community service with Path of Love, beach cleanup, Stop Foundation, and others. The senior ranked second in the conference this season for digs per set (4.54) and third in total digs (490). She helped FGCU capture its second ASUN Volleyball Championship and reach the NCAA Tournament Second Round in one of the program's best seasons in its history.

Isa Dostal of Jacksonville completed her summer internship with Herman & Partners Marketing and Advertising firm in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. A senior middle blocker native to Ljubljana, Slovenia, Dostal is fluent in the English, Slovenian, and Italian languages. She led the Dolphins in the fall with 168 kills and 67 total blocks while recording at least 10 kills on five occasions and appearing in 94 sets throughout the season.

Jacksonville State's Marshall Clark works closely with the Munford Church of Christ as part of the leadership council for the success of young people in the Munford Community. He has opened his house and mentored young teenagers that were dealing with personal issues in their life by giving them somewhere to go and someone to talk to. He ranked fourth for tackles per game (7.0) in the inaugural season of ASUN Football and tallied five stops in the Gamecocks' upset of Florida State in Tallahassee on Sept. 11.

Kennesaw State Volleyball's Lauren Chastang returned to play her super senior year in the fall of 2021 as team captain of the Owls. She led the conference in service aces per set (0.49), ranked fourth in kills per set (3.39) and ended the season ranked 13th in the NCAA with a total of 53 aces. A First Team All-Conference selection and member of Kennesaw State's 925 Athletic Ministries, she has completed many service opportunities over her career as an Owl.

The 2021 ASUN Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year Calli Doan of Liberty became the first individual in league history to be named an All-American with her 28th-place finish at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship. Doan was named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second-consecutive season after posting a cumulative GPA of 3.98 as an Exercise Science major and earning the 2021 Outstanding Exercise Science Student Award. Doan serves within her church youth group.

Maggie Sullivan helped North Alabama's Volleyball team to a .500 winning percentage at home this season with a 4-4 record in contests played inside Flowers Hall. She ranked third on the team with 2.07 kills per set. Off the court, the junior works with the City of Florence, Keep Shoals Beautiful and the UNA FYE Student-Panel. She also helped with collecting school supplies following Hurricane Laura as well as participating in Our Lady of the Shoals Civic Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Service Day.

Ariana Munoz served as the SAAC representative for North Florida's Women's Soccer team as well as the UNF Title IX Committee. The Health Science major recorded a 3.95 cumulative GPA as she was named to the ASUN Academic Honor Roll. Munoz currently coaches youth soccer at the Jacksonville FC as well as tutoring middle school students. During the 2021 season, she played in nine contests while totaling three points off of three assists.

Elena Djokovic, who earned her first All-Academic selection, owns a 4.00 GPA as she pursues a major in Finance and a minor in Marketing. She becomes the first Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year from Stetson and only the second Hatter selected to the All-Academic Team. The Belgrade, Serbia, native is very engaged in volunteering with elementary and middle school children in the local DeLand area, serving as a volunteer instructor at volleyball clinics, K2 runs and walking elementary school children to and from home. She led the ASUN during the regular season with 374 kills and 401.0 points.

The Winners for Life team honors a campus citizen that is respected as one who shares and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship. To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the current academic year in an ASUN sponsored sport and be in good academic standing at his/her university.
