Hayes Wood and
Noah Gulden have earned weekly awards it was announced Tuesday. Wood earned ASUN and TSWA Player of the Week honors while Gulden was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week after the first week of competition.
Wood earned ASUN Player of the Week for the second time in his career and TSWA Player of the Week accolades after scoring two goals and dishing out an assist last week to lead Lipscomb to a 2-0 start to the season. The honor marked the 27th Player of the Week honor for the Bisons. The forward had the opening goal of the regular season for the Bisons and assisted two of Lipscomb's goals in the 6-2 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne. He also scored the game-winner to lead the Bisons to victory on the road against No. 10 Saint Louis. All told, he notched six points while averaging 1.5 shots on goal per game.
Gulden, the ASUN Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, was named the first ASUN Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in his career and 22nd honor in the Bisons' history. The graduate student scored his first goal of the season against Purdue Fort Wayne in the season opener to help Lipscomb to a 6-2 victory. He also had an assist in the win. On Sunday, Gulden anchored a back line that held No. 10 Saint Louis to just one goal, a penalty kick goal, and held the Billikens without a goal during the run of play.
The Bisons will be back in action Saturday, September 3 on the road at FAU.
