LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After a strong showing at the Commodore Challenge to start the new year, the Lipscomb men's and women's track and field teams returned to action this weekend by competing in the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational hosted by the University of Louisville. The Herd tallied four new program records and nine top-five finishes.
The Bisons opened the two-day meet on Friday with a top-five finish in the long jump and strong performance in the pentathlon and 5,000m run.
For the women's team, sophomore
Aislinn McElhaney found success early on the first day by breaking her own school record in the long jump with a 5
th-place finish (5.99m). This mark broke her own previous program record of 5.81, which McElhaney set at the Commonwealth College Opener back in December.
Junior
Maddie Moody and senior
Franziska Decker also found success on the first day of the meet by finishing 7
th in the 5,000m run (17:33.84) and 8
th overall in the pentathlon (3245 points) respectively.
Freshman
Cayden Durrough paced the men's side on the opening day of the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational by crossing 8
th in the 5,000m run (15:57.92).
The Bisons continued their strong showing on the second day of the meet, headlined by record-breaking performances by junior
Braedon Palmer and sophomores
Kennedy Miller and
Lydia Miller.
Lydia Miller posted the top performance of the weekend for Lipscomb by winning the 3,000m run with a time of 9:19.06, which broke the program record of 9:32.23 set in 2020 and broke the facility record.
Braedon Palmer broke the indoor 3,000m program record and the facility record with a 7
th-place finish (8:07.07). His time shattered the previous record of 8:09.26, which was set during the 2020 season.
Kennedy Miller continued her strong start to the indoor season by breaking her own record in the 200m dash for the second-consecutive meet with a time of 25.25. Sophomores
Colbi Borland and
Kiara Carter crossed 2
nd in both the 3,000m run (9:29.93) and in the 1-mile run (4:48.62) respectively, while both Sophomore
Mackenzie Barnett and freshman
Brady Yingst posted 3
rd-place finishes in the women's 1-mile run (4:49.45) and in the men's 1-mile run (4:09.02) respectively.
Freshmen
Liza Corso and
Aly Negovetich crossed 4
th respectively in the 1-mile run (4:49.57) and in the 3,000m run (9:40.72).
Bella Jackson also posted a tied-for 5
th-place finish in the high jump (1.75m).
Junior
Scott McKenzie and freshman
Levi Streeval finished 4
th (4:10.08) and 9
th (4:10.68) in the 1-mile run, while the 4x400-meter relay team of senior
Bill Comstock, freshman
James Schmidt,
Levi Streeval,
Brady Yingst crossed 10
th with a time of 3:23.91.

The Bisons will return to action on Friday, Feb. 3 as the Herd travels back to Louisville, Kentucky to compete in the one-day Bellarmine Classic.
