SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Lipscomb Men's Golf finished eighth in a tough field of 16 at the Desert Mountain Collegiate hosted by the University of Michigan on Sunday afternoon.
The squad sat in second place after the first round of competition, shooting 288, even to par. Lipscomb shot a 302 and 299 in the second and third rounds, respectively to finish (+25) on the tournament.
Jason Hong and
Gregor McKenzie led the way for the Bisons, finishing the tournament tied for 23
rd. Hong was consistent through the first two rounds, shooting a 72 and 73, respectively before carding a 77 in the third round to finish with a 222 (+6). McKenzie started red hot, shooting a 70 in the first round before cooling off a bit with a 75 and 77 in the second and third rounds, respectively to finish with a 222 (+6).
Alejandro Rodriguez finished tied for 32 after a consistent outing. He carded a 74-74-76 over the two days of competition for a 224 (+8) overall.
Will Holan and
Ford Goldasich rounded out the team scoring for the Bisons. Holan shot a 72 in the first round and an 81 in the second round. After sitting tied for 54
th after the first 36 holes, Holan improved to finish tied for 26
th after turning in a 74 in the final round to finish with a 227 (+11). Goldasich finished the tournament with a 76-80-72 for a 228 (+12).
As an individual,
Austin Aliff had a successful tournament, finishing tied for 35
th in a field of 93 competitors. Aliff had a strong first round with a 72 before shooting a 78 and 75 in the final two rounds for an overall score of 225 (+9).
HERD NOTES
- Lipscomb led the field in total Pars with 161 on the tournament.
- The Bisons had 40 birdies and one eagle over the three rounds.
