NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb women's tennis played their final regular season home match Saturday morning as they took on the Stetson Hatters following a celebration of seniors Liza Diachenko and Perri Howard. Despite the unruly wind, the Bisons put up an impressive fight against their opponents, but the Hatters took the day 6-1.
The two seniors teamed up on court three in doubles play but the pair were bested 6-2 by their Stetson foes. The Hatters claimed the doubles point with another win on court two over the freshman duo of Sofiia Paladi and Alina Cherniaieva in another 6-2 match.
Sasha Dobranos and Anja Trbeznik teamed up at the top spot for the Bisons and the duo's match went unfinished at 5-4 in their favor when the doubles point was decided.
The Bisons battled back in singles play, led by Dobranos at the top spot and Paladi at No. 2, both of whom won their first sets 6-4. Dobranos capitalized on her lead and sealed her 13th singles victory of the season and her 12th straight-set singles win with a 6-2 second set. Paladi fell 6-3 in her second set and was downed 10-5 in the tiebreaker third set.
The Hatters were formidable foes; however, and secured their victory with two-set wins on courts three through six to conclude the day.
