JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Lipscomb women's tennis concluded their 2023 campaign Saturday afternoon against Central Arkansas in the first round of the ASUN Conference Tournament. Despite Lipscomb's squad taking the doubles point and the top singles court, the Bears took the day 4-2 to advance in the tournament.
The Bisons displayed some of their top doubles work to begin the match. Although Central Arkansas was the first to earn a doubles win with a 6-2 victory on court three over Perri Howard and Liza Diachenko, the Purple and Gold pushed back with a 6-4 win on court one for Sasha Dobranos and Anja Trbeznik to even things up.
The freshmen duo of Sofiia Paladi and Alina Cherniaieva brought home the doubles point for the Bisons as they secured the win on court two after a 7-5 battle.
Things continued in their heated fashion in singles play with two of the six first sets going to the Bisons and the remaining four to the Bears. Central Arkansas brought things tied overall with their 6-0, 6-3 win on court five over Cherniaieva to claim the first point in singles play.
Dobranos fought back for a 6-3, 6-1 win at the top spot over her foe to push the Bisons back into the lead 2-1.
