HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb drops another heartbreaker in their second contest of pool play, giving up four runs in the ninth and falling to the No. 2 seed FGCU 6-5.

The Bisons put up a three spot in the second after each ball club put just a hit on the board in the first inning. Austin Kelly opened the frame with a walk, then after connecting on a line drive that bounced foul off the right field wall, Jake Berg sent a no-doubter to right field to give Lipscomb a 2-0 lead.

Caleb Ketchup brought in the third run of the frame on a ground out to third to score Parks Bouck, who reached to on a single up the middle and advanced to third on a single to right field by Will Lee

Alex Brewer had a fantastic outing in his five and two-thirds innings of work, allowing just two hits and, and one run.

The Eagles got a run across in the sixth, but the Bisons held them to just that as Joey Mitchell was delivered in a bases-loaded two-out situation with a strikeout to end the threat.

FGCU got another run back in the seventh on a solo home run and put a runner on second, but another two-out strikeout, this time from Tyler Legere, ended another threat and held a high-powered Eagles lineup to one run.

With the Bisons needing three outs to secure their first win in pool play, but FGCU scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning, the first coming on a sacrifice fly with the bases juiced. Then, FGCU did what they do best, hitting a three-run homer over the right field wall to take a 6-3 lead over the Bisons

The Bisons rally effort came up a run short after scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth on a bases-loaded walk and a ground out to second to fall 6-5 in game two of pool play.

The loss puts Lipscomb in a win or go home situation, as they battle Jacksonville, who they took two of three from in the regular season, tomorrow morning.
