HOW IT HAPPENED
The first several minutes of play at E.S. Rose Park saw both squads settling into the match. Belmont had a few looks on set pieces and long balls over the top, but the Lipscomb defense held strong, including three saves by
Noah Kump.
The Bruins, however, broke through as the time ticked down in the first frame, finding the back of the net in the 45' minute for a 1-0 lead.
Lipscomb had better possession in the opening minutes of the second half, but Belmont found the back of the net when a shot took a tough deflection and skirted into the far post.
The Bisons punched back with a good look from
Matteo Colombo with a shot from the left side that barely slid past the far post and out of play.
Colombo continued to stay active and blistered a shot towards goal in the 72' minute that forced a Belmont save.
With 10 minutes left in the match,
Bubu Medina found some space and fired off a shot that forced another impressive save from the Belmont keeper.
The Bruins held onto a 2-0 advantage as the Bisons fell in the 2024 edition of the Battle of the Boulevard.
