TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Lipscomb fell to No. 15 Alabama in the final matchup of the series 10-5 after a four-run fifth by the Crimson Tide created too much separation for the Bisons to overcome.
Alabama put a two-spot up in their first at-bats of the series finale for an early 2-0 lead. After scoring none in their first opportunity at the plate, the Bisons got a run back in the top of the second on a ground out to second from Noah Boughton, which scored Trace Willhoite from third.
The Crimson Tide added two more runs in the third inning on a single through the left side with runners in scoring position. However, the Bisons did not stop battling as Alex Vergara sent a two-run blast over the left-center field wall to tie the game at four runs each.
Alabama offense did not slow down as they continued to score runs in each of the next two innings, plating a run in the fourth and then four-runs in the fifth to extend their lead to six runs.
Parks Bouck, on a solo home run, his first of the year, gave the Bisons a run back in the fourth, but the Crimson Tide's four-spot proved too much to overcome.
The Bisons got another run back in the sixth on a single to left field with two runners on to cut the Crimson Tide's lead to five runs, but nothing more in the final three frames.
Lipscomb held the hot Alabama bats scoreless for the final three innings. Right-handed pitcher Ryan Kutz pitched in relief for three and two-thirds innings, allowing just two hits with four strikeouts, but the Bisons still fell 10-5 Sunday, and were swept for the second straight series.
