NASHVILLE - Lipscomb baseball fell to Bellarmine in Saturday's middle game of the series 15-8 at Ken Dugan Field.
The Knights outhit the Bisons 16-13 on Saturday. Lipscomb fought back to make it a two-run game after eight, but a six-run ninth put the game out of reach in the Knights' favor.
Bellarmine put up a three spot in the second on an RBI ground out and a two-run homer to take a 3-0 early lead.
Lipscomb was able to claw back to make it a one-run game with a solo homer from David Coppedge in the fourth and then a two-run long ball from Mason Lundgrin to cut the Bisons' lead down to one at 4-3.
However, Bellarmine plated four runs in the fourth to extend their lead further. The Bisons got back all but one of those runs in the bottom half, bringing home three runs thanks to a three-run blast from Trace Willhoite.
After the Knights scored again in the eighth, Parks Bouck belted a solo long ball to left field, his fourth of the year, to bring the Bisons' within two entering the ninth.
Unfortunately, the Knights had a big ninth inning, plating six runs on five hits to put the game out of reach.
Lipscomb scored one run in their last efforts on an RBI double from Will Lee to right center, but nothing more as the Bisons fell to the Knights 15-8 to force a winner-take-all rubber match Sunday afternoon.
