
Heard Joins 1,000 Point Club as Women's Basketball Cruises Past Johnson

NASHVILLE – If you haven't "Heard", you should know that Molly Heard joined the 1,000 point club on Thursday night in Allen Arena, as the Lipscomb University Women's Basketball dethroned the Johnson University Royals, 74-49.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Royals came out the locker room scoring early, knocking down the first five points of the contest.
After the Bisons called a timeout with 7:22 left in the opening period, they went to work with a 21-3 run, including 17 straight points, to flip the score in their favor, 21-10, at the end of the quarter.
Lipscomb, after missing the first three field goals, shot 10-of-13 the rest of the quarter, and saw 16 of their 21 points in the paint. Meanwhile, Johnson, after starting 2-of-6, finished the period 1-of-12.
In the second, the Royals cut the deficit to 12 with a Shamiya Francis layup with 2:29 left in the period, the Bisons knocked down back-to-back triples from McKayla Miller and Molly Heard to restore order.
The Bisons took a 42-25 halftime lead into the locker room.
Following a steal and score from Jadyn Cooper to start the second half scoring, the Bisons went on a 9-2 run to swell the lead to 51-29 at the media timeout.
With a 54-35 deficit, Johnson scored the first five points of the fourth to cut the deficit to 14, Lipscomb put the game away with a 16-3 run, capped by Molly Heard's eight points in the period that saw her score her 1,000th career point from the charity stripe.
