NASHVILLE – In the 2025 edition of the Battle of the Boulevard for women's basketball, Lipscomb University could not overcome a slow start, as Belmont University took down the Bisons, 80-60, Wednesday evening from the Curb Event Center.
The Bruins, who finished as a finalist in the inaugural Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament (WBIT) last season, are ranked 11th in the latest mid-major top-25 poll by CollegeInsider.com.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After the teams traded buckets early, Belmont went on a massive 22-0 run before
McKayla Miller ended the run on a 3-pointer.
The Bruins knocked down 12-of-19 and scored 13 of their 26 points off of Lipscomb's seven turnovers to lead 26-10 after one quarter of play.
Despite a second-chance layup by
Olivia Vinson at the 7:49 mark of the third quarter to cut the deficit to 13, the Bruins used a 13-0 spurt to swell the lead to 30 points, 45-15, as Belmont took a 48-20 lead into the locker room.
The Bisons did not give up, as they outscored the Bruins 27-19 in the third thanks to 11-of-16 from the field and holding the home team to 6-of-16.
Lipscomb did start the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer from
Hope Counts, but the Bruins maintained the double-digit advantage the rest of the way.
KEY STATISTICS
Molly Heard led the Bisons with 15 points and five rebounds and assists each, while
Elena Bertrand added 12 points and five boards.

Lipscomb will have an 11-day break before next preparing for Tennessee Tech, winners of the Ohio Valley Conference last season, in Cookeville. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1.
