BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Lipscomb University Women's Basketball team suffered an 80-46 decision to Indiana University to open the 2025-26 season on Tuesday night inside the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
Indiana is receiving votes in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association preseason top 25.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams traded the first 12 points of the game early.
McKayla Miller's driving layup was the first points of the season for the Bisons.
After a
Molly Heard layup,
Elena Bertrand's jumper in the paint made it 6-6 with 8:28 left in the opening period.
However, IU went on an 11-0 run that forced Lipscomb to burn a timeout at the 5:25 mark.
The Bisons were able to end the run on a triple by
Elena Bertrand, but it was the Hoosiers that were up 25-12 after 10 minutes.
Indiana used a 19-8 second quarter to swell the lead to 43-20 at the break.
The Bisons did cut the deficit to 19 thanks to a 9-3 run. Leading the charge was Miller, who scored seven straight points, including a three-point play started by a Heard steal.
Despite six straight points by the Bisons at the end of the third quarter, it was a 65-39 lead after three for the home standing Hoosiers to earn the first win of 2025.
In the second half, Lipscomb scored seven second-chance points.
KEY STATISTICS
McKayla Miller, in her first contest with the Bisons, totaled 12 points with five rebounds in 23-plus minutes.
Molly Heard added 11 points and two steals, while
Hope Counts totaled seven rebounds and three assists.
HERD NOTES
This marked the second time in Lipscomb women's basketball history that they have played Indiana.
Tuesday's game is the first of two Big Ten matchups for the Bisons in non-conference play this season. They will play Purdue later in December.
