NASHVILLE -- Lipscomb Men's Basketball's Mateo Esmeraldo was named the ASUN Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday. The honor marks the first ASUN weekly award of Esmeraldo's career and Lipscomb's first of the season. 

The Monroe, Conn. native earns the honor after averaging 12.0 points per game, 7.0 assists per game and 6.5 assists per game. The guard shot an impressive 64.3% from the field and 60% from beyond the arc. He currently leads the ASUN in total assists, assists per game, and assist/turnover ratio. 

Lipscomb is riding a five-game win streak and will be back in action at No. 4 Duke on Tuesday, December 16.
