NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University baseball team saw a four-run third and seven scoreless innings on the mound by
Jake Poindexter to shut out Villanova University, 8-0, Friday afternoon from Ken Dugan Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the bottom of the second, following a
Damion Kenealy Jr. walk and stolen base,
Parks Bouck brought him home for the first run of the game.
In the third, the bats started to get hot for the Bisons. After two quick outs, and
Jake Berg reaching on a base hit,
David Coppedge laced a double down the line to bring Berg home for the 2-0 lead.
Next up, more specifically, the next pitch, Kenealy went deep thanks to a two-run home run to left center to make it a 4-0 score.
The Bisons added a run in the sixth on an RBI groundout and two more in the eighth to seal the deal.
Jake Poindexter's final two innings slammed the door for good on the Wildcats. He sent Villanova down 1-2-3 in the sixth and worked around a two-out single in the seventh.
KEY STATISTICS
Jake Poindexter (1-1) twirled a gem for the Bisons in his third start of 2025. Going seven shutout innings, he allowed five hits and punched out six batters.
Jace Trautner added two scoreless innings in relief to complete the shutout.
The top of the order,
Aaron Stelogeannis,
Jake Berg and
David Coppedge, for the Bisons had six of the team's 12 hits. Berg posted a triple, while Coppedge drove in two RBI.
Damino Kenealy Jr. blasted his fourth home run of the season and drove in two runs.
HERD NOTES
Lipscomb secured its first shutout since last May, where they defeated Eastern Kentucky 10-0 in the ASUN Tournament on the 22nd.
This was the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
