NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University Women's Basketball team held Stetson University to 24% shooting in the first half and five 3-pointers on the night, as the Bisons took down the Hatters, 67-53, in an Atlantic Sun Conference contest on Thursday night inside Allen Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb kept Stetson off the scoreboard through the first five minutes of the contest thanks to a 10-0 run, capped by a 3-pointer by
Taylor Bowen to put the Bisons in double figures first. The Hatters missed their first nine shots.
After an Aleah Sorrentino 3-pointer made it a 15-8 score, the Bisons finished the quarter on a 7-1 run thanks to six of those seven from
McKayla Miller, who ended the frame with a triple from the corner to give the home squad the 22-11 lead after one period.

Both teams struggled to find the bottom of the net to start the second quarter. However, the Bisons were able to get to the bonus with six minutes remaining in the period and used 6-of-8 free throws as a part of a 10-2 run to extend their lead to 32-13 at the under-5 media break.
Lipscomb swelled the lead to 20 after back-to-back 3-pointers from
Maris Zurliene and Bowen as the Bisons took a 24-point lead, the largest of the game at that point, into the locker room.
The Bisons held the Hatters to 24% from the field in the first half (7-of-29), including 2-of-17 from 3-point range. Stetson entered Thursday's matchup 20th in Division I in 3-pointers per game with over nine. They finished the game 5-of-31 from long distance.
The third stanza was the most competitive of the contest, but despite Stetson scoring 18 points, the most for them in the game, Lipscomb took a 59-37 lead into the fourth and the 67-53 victory.

Lipscomb secured its first win over Stetson at Allen Arena for the first time since Feb. 7, 2021, ending a two-game skid.
KEY STATISTICS
Taylor Bowen posted her second double-double of the season with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting and added a career-best 14 rebounds.
McKayla Miller swatted a career-best five blocks and added nine points and five boards.
Elena Bertrand and
Molly Heard each scored 13 points for the Bisons in the win. Bertrand also dished out four dimes, while Heard added seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.
