JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a perfect week on the road, the Atlantic Sun Conference announced on Monday that Lipscomb University Volleyball was represented on three of the four ASUN Player of the Week awards.
Sydney Strenger was named the Player of the Week, while Madyson McCarthy was tapped the Freshman of the Week. For the second straight week, and the fourth time this season, Kelsey Schenck was honored as the Setter of the Week.
SYDNEY STRENGER, ASUN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Earning the accolade for the first time in her career, the sophomore recorded a .426 attack percentage with 24 kills (2.88 per set). The percentage was the highest mark for any ASUN player this week who had 20 kills or more on the weekend.
Totaling 47 attempts, the Frisco, Texas native committed just three errors on the front row.
Finishing with 29.5 points (3.69 per set), she added three aces and seven total blocks.
After a 13-kill performance and a .591 attack percentage against Stetson with four blocks and two aces, she followed up with 10 kills and three assisted blocks in LUV's five-set win over Florida Gulf Coast, the first dub in the regular season since 2016.
Strenger continues to lead the ASUN in attack percentage at .381 and enters the week 50th in Division I in the category.
KELSEY SCHENCK, SETTER OF THE WEEK
For the fourth time this season, Kelsey Schenck has been honored as the ASUN Volleyball Setter of the Week.
Totaling 100 assists (12.50 per set), the junior paced an offense that led the league in attack percentage with .257 and second in kills with 116.
She also contributed back-to-back double-doubles, totaling 24 digs (3.0 per set), six blocks, five kills and an ace.
In Lipscomb's three-set sweep over Stetson, the Overland Park, Kansas native posted 48 assists, marking the third-highest by a LUV player since 2010 in a three-set match and added 14 digs and three blocks.
The 55 kills the Bisons achieved over the Hatters is the most in an ASUN three-set match this season and fourth-most in the program's 25-point era (since 2008).
Following that performance, Schenck picked up 52 assists with 10 digs, three total blocks and three kills in LUV's five-set win over FGCU.
Since the award was started in 2022, Schenck is one weekly accolade away from tying Sophia Hudepohl's five in 2023 and 2025 as the most Setter of the Week awards in a single season in program and ASUN history.
MADYSON MCCARTHY, FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Averaging 2.75 kills and 3.13 points per set on a .254 attack percentage last week, she finished with 22 kills, 25 points and 14 digs last week.
Against Stetson, she posted 14 kills, including six kills in the first set, seven digs and an assisted block in the Bisons sweep over the Hatters, in which she went 28-of-29 in receptions.
Two days later against the Eagles, she added eight kills, seven digs and two blocks. In the fifth set, McCarthy assisted on a block with Sydney Strenger to make it a 7-4 lead and later helped secure the win with a kill to make it an 11-7 lead.
The Bisons will return to action on Friday at Queens.
