VIERA, Fla. – Lipscomb Women's Golf finished tied for fifth out of 14 teams at the Space Coast Classic on Sunday. The Bisons were solid throughout the tournament, with round scores of 291, 294, 304 to finish (+25) on the event. Only one team in the field finished under par.
The Bisons sat in sixth place after the first 36 holes of competition, but moved up to fifth after handling windy conditions well, posting a top-five score on the day.
Casey Yu led Lipscomb throughout the event, finishing in eighth place, marking her second top-10 finish of the season. Yu was under par after the first day of competition, sitting at (-2) and tied for sixth. She battled through the wind, carding a 74 in the final 18 holes for a combined score of 216 (E). Yu notched an impressive 13 birdies and 29 pars.
Savannah Howell was Lipscomb's next finisher, tying for 12
th, her second-best finish of the season. She carded a 72 and 73 in the first and second rounds, respectively, and posted a 74 in the third round. All told, Howell finished at 219 (+3) to boast a top-15 finish for the Bisons. Howell was consistent with six birdies and a team-best 39 pars.
Lipscomb's next finisher was
Katya Tibbetts. Tibbetts was tied for 32
nd after the first day of competition, after posting a 74 and 76 in the first and second rounds, respectively. Tibbetts shot up the leaderboard after posting a 76 in the final round, improving to finish tied for 27
th. She finished with seven birdies and 30 pars.
The final two finishers for Lipscomb were
Ava Bankston and
Christina Surcey. Bankston tied for 40
th while Surcey tied for 44
th. Bankston carded scores of 74, 75, 80 (+13) while Surcey posted scores of 75, 75, 81 (+15).
