DOTHAN, Alabama – Lipscomb Women's Golf is sitting in third place after the first round of the ASUN Championship at the Dothan Country Club. The Bisons are sitting at 292 (+4) after the first 18 holes, three strokes behind FGCU in second and 14 strokes behind North Florida, who sits in first at (-10). 
 
Lipscomb was led by an impressive opening round by Christina Surcey, who is in fourth place. After posting a bogey on the first hole, Surcey went (-1) even over the next eight holes to sit (+1) at the turn, where things began to heat up. She birdied on the par-3 hole 11 to get back even. She was briefly at (-1) after a birdie on 14, but a bogey on 15 quickly saw her go back even. Surcey posted pars on 16 and 17 before a birdie on her final hole to finish with a 71 (-1). All told, she had four birdies and three bogeys to bolster 11 pars. 
 
Casey Yu was right behind with another solid score of 72 (E), sitting in fifth place. Yu was steady with pars in each of the first five holes. At hole six, Yu put up a birdie to briefly go to (-1), but a bogey on seven put her back even to par. With two more pars on eight and nine, Yu was even at the turn. The next three holes were tough for Yu with bogeys on 10 and 12, but she locked in with two birdies and four pars over the final six holes to finish her round even to par. 
 
Ava Bankston had the next-best round for the Purple and Gold and sits inside the top-15 at 12^th place. Like two of her teammates, Bankston started her round with a bogey on a tough first hole, but didn't let it derail her as she had pars on seven of the other eight holes on the first nine, carding a 38 over the first nine. Bankston was rock solid over the back nine, with nine consecutive pars to finish her day at 73 (+1). 
 
Savannah Howell rounded out Lipscomb's scoring on Friday with a 76 (+4). She had one birdie on hole six, but three bogeys and a double bogey saw her finish in 31^st after day one. Katya Tibbetts sits in 40^th after posting a 77 (+5). 
 
Lipscomb led the field with 63 pars in the first round, and finished second in the field in Par 5's, going (-5).
