DOTHAN, Alabama – Lipscomb Women's Golf finished fifth at the ASUN Championship hosted at the Dothan Country Club. The Bisons finished with a score of 888 (+24).
Christina Surcey and
Casey Yu were Lipscomb's top finishers, tying for 12
th in the field. Surcey shot a 74 (+2) in her final round. Battling through gusty winds on the final day of competition, she carded an impressive four birdies to go along with four bogeys and a double bogey in the final round. For the tournament, Surcey turned in scores of 71, 76, 74 (+5).
Yu was a steady force throughout the tournament for the Purple and Gold. After going even in both the first and second rounds, Yu carded a 77 (+5) in the final round to finish with a 221 (+5). Overall, she carded nine birdies to bolster 32 pars.
Ava Bankston finished tied for 18
th with an overall score of 224 (+8). After posting a 73 in each of the first two rounds and finished her season with a 78 (+6) in the final round.
Savannah Howell represented Lipscomb's final counting score of the day with a 73 (+1) in the final round to tie for 23rd. Her last 18 holes saw her best round of the tournament after a 76 and 77 in the first and second rounds, respectively. Howell was impressive through her first nine holes on Sunday, sitting (-2) at the turn after birdies on two and six. As the winds picked up, scoring slowed as she ultimately finished with a 73 in her final round.
Katya Tibbetts finished her tournament with her best round of the event. Tibbetts improved 10 strokes on her second round score by carding a 74 (+2) in her final round of competition. She was dialed in and connected on five birdies on Sunday to finish with eight over the three rounds. All told she finished tied for 43
rd.
The Bisons finished the season with a national ranking of 121 and four finishes in the top three as a squad. Lipscomb's overall record on the year was 75-50-1.
