DOTHAN, Alabama – Lipscomb Women's Golf is tied for fifth after the second round of the ASUN Championship at the Dothan Country Club. The Bisons have an overall score of 590 (+14). Lipscomb shot a 298 (+10) on Saturday to go with its 292 (+4) on Friday. Lipscomb sits nine strokes back of podium position. North Florida is firmly in first place with a 548 (-28).
Casey Yu is leading Lipscomb, tied for 10
th place after the first two rounds. She has been solid throughout the first two rounds, posting an even 72 in each of them. Today, she was laser sharp through the first nine holes, sitting (-2) at the turn after back-to-back birdies on five and six. Yu was (+2) over the final nine, however, to finish her round with a 72.
Ava Bankston is tied for 14
th after posting a 73 (+1) on Saturday. The score matches her first round score to sit at 146 (+2) heading into the final round. Saturday's round started hot with two birdies on the front nine for a 34 (-2) at the turn. Her back nine started rough with four bogeys on the first five holes. She was able to lock back in with three pars and a birdie on 18 to finish her round at 73 (+1).
Christina Surcey led Lipscomb on Friday with a 71 (-1) to sit in fourth place, but had a rougher second round. She is currently tied for 17
th after a 76 (+4) on Saturday sees her at (+3) on the tournament. Surcey was unable to really get going on Saturday and connected on 14 pars and four bogeys.
Savannah Howell rounded out Lipscomb's scoring again on Saturday with a 77 (+5). On the tournament, she is at (+9), sitting tied for 37
th. She had two birdies on her round today, but she carded a few bogeys and double bogeys.
Katya Tibbetts is in 52
nd place at (+17). Tibbetts carded an 84 (+12) on Saturday.
After two rounds of play, Lipscomb is second in the field with 119 total pars.
The third and final round of the championship is set for Sunday, April 19. Tee times for the Bisons will begin at 8 a.m. CT with Tibbetts. Lipscomb will tee off in 10-minute increments, finishing with Yu at 8:40 a.m. CT.
