NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University Women's Basketball held Atlantic Sun Conference leaders in Eastern Kentucky University to a season-low in points scored in an ASUN game, but it was the Colonels that left Allen Arena with the win on Wednesday night, 61-55.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Entering Wednesday's play as the top team in the ASUN, Eastern Kentucky started teh game with a 6-0 run. However, Lipscomb stayed around, cutting the deficit to 11-8 at the 5:42 mark thanks to a
McKayla Miller 3-pointer.
Down 12-8 with 2:30 left in the period, the Bisons used four straight points to even the score after driving layups by
Molly Heard and Miller. EKU did convert the final bucket of the period with a Ndidiamaka Ndukwe layup to give the Colonels the 14-12 lead.
Both teams were struggling to pull away in the second quarter. EKU did go on an 8-2 run to finish the period and take a 27-21 lead to the locker room.
Fortunately for the Bisons, they held the Colonels to 27 points on 35% shooting in the first half. Entering play on Wednesday, EKU was one of the top teams in the league in scoring and field goal shooting percentage.
The Bisons started the third quarter with a 5-2 run thanks to a
Taylor Bowen 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 29-26 with nine minutes remaining, but the Colonels responded with a 5-0 run of their own.
After a
Hannah Richardson layup with 5:18 left in the period to make it a 34-30 lead for the Colonels, they responded with an 11-1 run to swell the lead to 14, the biggest of the night, as EKU led 49-37 after 30 minutes.
In the fourth, while the Bisons outscored the Colonels 18-12 in the period, the visitors held on for the victory.
HERD NOTES
For Eastern Kentucky, entering play on Wednesday, they are the ASUN leaders in scoring (76.0) and field-goal shooting percentage (43.9%). However, the 61 points scored by the Colonels is the lowest by them in an ASUN game this season and they shot 34.5% from the field (20-of-58), including 17% from downtown (4-of-23).
KEY STATISTICS
McKayla Miller led the scoring brigade for the Bisons with 18 points and added six boards and three thefts.
Molly Heard and
Taylor Bowen each contributed 11 points. Heard also had three steals, while Bowen grabbed six rebounds.

Lipscomb will hit the road for the next two contests, starting on Saturday with a trip to Central Arkansas.
