Baseball Falls in Series Finale to UNA

NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb University Baseball team was unable to finish off a series sweep over the University of North Alabama on Sunday afternoon, as the Lions defeated the Bisons 13-7 inside Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium.

Final Score: North Alabama 13, Lipscomb 7
Location: Nashville, Tennessee (Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium)
Records: Lipscomb (8-10, 2-1), North Alabama (8-12, 1-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions opened the contest with three runs in the first inning and six in the second to lead 9-0.

However, the Bisons began chipping away, as Cam Pruitt made it a 9-1 score with a base hit to right-center.

In the fourth, after a lead-off hit by Damion Kenealy Jr., Jordan Thomas found the wind blowing out to left field and crushed a 371-foot ball to the hitting cages in left field to cut the score to 9-3.

UNA got a run back in the fifth on a fielding error, but Lipscomb responded in a loud way thanks to Thomas again. AFter a lead-off double by Keaton Mahan, Thomas went to left field again for a 368-foot shot for his second homer of the game.

Now trailing 10-5, and following a free pass by Brock Beddingfield and a Hutson Miles double, Brady Miller greeted the new UNA pitcher in Sawyer Toney with a two-run double to make it a 10-7 game.

In the eighth, two hits and four walks by the Lions' bats saw them score three times to put it away and win the game 13-7.
