NASHVILLE – Freshman
Brock Beddingfield came through in a clutch way in the bottom of the 12th with a solo shot to give Lipscomb University the 3-2 win over Eastern Kentucky University to start a three-game series on Friday night from Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Colonels got on the board early with a two-run homer on the second batter of the game in Dylan Littlefield.
In the second,
Cam Pruitt followed with a solo shot to straightaway center field to make it a 2-1 game.
From there, the starters settled in on both sides.
Alexander Llinas pitched the longest outing of his collegiate career, going into the seventh with a new career high in strikeouts with nine.
In the eighth, EKU threatened with a single and a walk from the first two batters of the frame. After a sac bunt moved the runners over to third with one out.
Adam Jamison went to work and struck out pinch hitter Julius Scearce and Ricco Longo to escape the jam.
Lipscomb attempted a rally of its own in the bottom half of the frame, as they loaded the bases with two outs. However, new pitcher Jack Bell came in and got a strikeout to end the Bisons threat.
After Jamison worked around a one-out walk in the ninth,
Danny Ramirez came through in a pinch with his first home run of the season to even the score at two runs apiece going into extra innings.
EKU had runners on first and second with nobody out in their 11th inning, and after a pitching change by the Bisons to
Collin Bosley-Smith. After Kobe Benson failed to move the runners over on a bunt, Pedro Moreno also struck out, but the runners were caught in a pickle, as
Brock Beddingfield threw to third base for the double play.
In the 12th, Beddingfield led off the inning and launched a 394-foot home run to send the team and crowd home happy on Friday night with his first collegiate home run.
KEY STATISTICS
Kai Holm,
Cam Pruitt and
Hutson Miles all had two hits each for the Biosns.
All four of Lipscomb's runs came off of a solo home runs: Pruitt in the second,
Danny Ramirez in the ninth and
Brock Beddingfield in the 12th.
Alexander Llinas got the no-decision, but he made his most impressive outing in a Lipscomb uniform to date. Tossing a career high 6.1 innings, he set a new best in strikeouts with nine, allowing two runs on four hits.
