Bosley-Smith, Lee Twirl Shutout as Baseball Takes Road Series at North Alabama

FLORENCE, Ala. – Needing a good pitching outing on Sunday, the Lipscomb University Baseball team got that and then some, as Collin Bosley-Smith and Jackson Lee combined for a four-hit shutout, as the Bisons took down the Lions of the University of North Alabama 6-0 from Mike D. Lane Field at Bank Independent Stadium.

Final Score: Lipscomb 6, North Alabama 0
Location: Florence, Alabama (Mike D. Lane Field at Bank Independent Stadium)
Records: Lipscomb (17-19, 10-8), North Alabama (19-20, 11-7)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bisons used a lead-off error by the Lions to spark a third inning rally. Loading the bases, Danny Ramirez started the merry-go-round with a five-pitch walk to see Brock Beddingfield score.

After a UNA pitching change, Kai Holm laced a single up the middle to score two more runs to lead 3-0.

After Collin Bosley-Smith worked around back-to-back walks in the second with back-to-back strikeouts, he followed that agenda in the third by striking out the side to preserve the 3-0 lead.

Fast forward to the sixth, following a double by Holm to start the frame, pinch hitter Cole Pippenger laced a 3-2 pitch to left field for the RBI and the 4-0 Lipscomb lead.

Later, Brock Beddingfield made it a 5-0 score with his RBI groundout.

After Bosley-Smith tossed five shutout innings, Lipscomb turned to the bullpen in Jackson Lee. Working around a runner in scoring position, the freshman added another zero on the line score as the contest went into the seventh.

The Bisons tacked on an insurance run in the ninth thanks to a Cam Pruitt RBI single.

HERD NOTES
For the first time in over three years, the Bisons recorded a shutout in Atlantic Sun Conference play on Sunday. The last time an opponent was held to no runs was on March 26, 2023 at Queens.

Overall, it's Lipscomb's first shutout since Feb. 28, 2025, an 8-0 victory over Villanova.

For the second straight year in division play, the Bisons have taken the season series over the Lions.

With the series win by Lipscomb, along with an Austin Peay series win over Bellarmine and Central Arkansas sweeping Eastern Kentucky, four teams are separated by one game in the standings with four weeks to go in the regular season.

UNA holds the 11-7, one-advantage, while Lipscomb, Austin Peay and Central Arkansas are all one game behind at 10-8.

KEY STATISTICS
Kai Holm recorded his first career four-hit game with two doubles and RBI each.

Brady Miller scored twice, while Cam Pruitt, Danny Ramirez, Cole Pippenger, and Brock Beddingfield all had an RBI in the victory.

The story came on the mound, as Collin Bosley-Smith (3-2) and Jackson Lee tossed a combined, four-hit shutout. Bosley-Smith went five innings, striking out eight batters in 19 faced, while Lee tossed the final four frames with four strikeouts.

UP NEXT
The Bisons return to action on Tuesday, as they head to Knoxville for a midweek battle with Southeastern Conference foe Tennessee.
