10 softball players named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - 10 Lipscomb softball players were named 2019 Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athletes on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lady Bisons were also ranked 38th in the nation for team GPA with a 3.499 mark. The team average was the highest in the ASUN, and the second-highest in the state behind the University of Tennessee.

The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association’s membership categories. To qualify, a student-athlete must compile a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Over half of the Lady Bisons on last season’s roster earned the honor: Abby Davis, Jordan Fortel, Graysen Gladden, Jessica Goodwin, Megan Gray, Kamrie Rich, Chloe Rogers, Caitlin Turner, Amy Vetula, and Peyton Ward.

The accolades come as one more section in the trophy case for a successful season that saw Lipscomb win the ASUN regular season and tournament titles, make an NCAA Tournament appearance, and earn the ASUN Player of the Year (Hannah DeVault) and Coach of the Year (Kristin Ryman) awards.
