ASUN CONFERENCE UNVEILS 2021 SPRING VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE

ATLANTA, Ga. – Following the ASUN Conference's announcement in mid-August regarding the postponement of fall sports, the league unveiled a new spring volleyball schedule on Tuesday.
The 14-match slate will feature five weeks of divisional play with North and South divisions beginning February 5, followed by two weekends of divisional crossover action starting March 12.
"I'm extremely excited about this schedule," head coach Brandon Rosenthal said. "I think the coaches group and the ASUN Conference did a fantastic job of working together and creating an excellent schedule. It's one that amid a pandemic has some challenges, but at the same time everyone is facing the same challenges."
The Bisons will get at least one match with every program in the conference, but as a part of the North division, the purple and gold will square off with Liberty and league newcomer Bellarmine three times.
"It's neat that we get to play a 14-match schedule and also have a conference tournament," Rosenthal said. "It's well represented as we play every team at least once. For the ASUN to find a way to make it happen, I couldn't be more impresses and excited."
Lipscomb fans will only have four chances to watch the Bisons in Allen Arena as the other 10 matches will be on the road.
They open February 5 with North Alabama and then Liberty visits two days later. The other pair of home matches come on the final weekend of the regular season against North Florida (March 19) and Jacksonville (March 21).
Throughout the year there will be a number of neutral site games across the league as a way to help cut travel for teams amid the pandemic. The Bisons will have four such matches.
LUV's first road trip of the spring will see the Bisons face off with Liberty (Feb. 13) and Bellarmine (Feb. 15) in Louisville, Kentucky. The following weekend they make the trek to Florence, Alabama to face UNA (Feb. 19) and Bellarmine (Feb. 20).
A four-match road swing wraps up divisional play for the Bisons with a rare back-to-back against defending ASUN tournament champion Kennesaw State (Feb. 26-27) before single trips to Bellarmine (March 2) and Liberty (March 6).
Lipscomb will travel back to Kennesaw State the following week for cross-divisional play, but will not face the Owls. Instead, the Bisons will get Stetson (March 13) and the defending regular season champs FGCU (March 14).
"This group is experienced and they will be ready to play," Rosenthal said. "We are just excited to know when we are playing and that we have a date to work towards."
The Bisons will play host to a number of neutral site games as well during their home stretches with Liberty and UNA battling in Nashville on February 6.
On the final weekend of the regular season, there will be a total of six conference matches in Allen Arena over three days (March 19-21). Jacksonville, North Florida, Bellarmine and Kennesaw State will all be in town that weekend.
More info on the nonconference schedule, as well as the ASUN tournament, will be released as information becomes finalized.
