CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Lipscomb University Volleyball program (12-4, 5-1 ASUN) used quick work of Queens University of Charlotte (5-14, 1-5) in a three-set sweep, 25-20, 25-18, 25-20, Friday night inside Curry Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Royals built early leads of 5-2 and 6-4, but the Bisons pulled even on a bad set and moved in front 7-6 on Madyson McCarthy's block. The Royals scored four straight to go ahead 10-7, including a Destiny Wiggins ace, before Anna Claire Brown's kill, Anna Claire Brown-Sydney Strenger block and McCarthy's kill brought the Bisons back to 10-10.

After the Royals later led 17-15, the Bisons scored five of the next six points, with Brown putting down two kills and Brooklyn Fuchs and McCarthy combining on a block to help push the Bisons ahead 20-18. The Bisons stayed in front from there, and after the Royals got within 22-20, Kelsey Schenck's kill, McCarthy's ace and Strenger's kill closed the set 25-20.

Madyson McCarthy served the Bisons to a 5-0 start in the second set, delivering two aces while Ella Durham added two kills and Strenger finished the opening run. The Royals worked back through the middle of the set and tied it at 10-10 on a Tilley Collins service ace, but McCarthy's kill and a Queens setting error put the Bisons back in front.

Kenzie Kucks added an ace and Fuchs followed with a kill to push the lead to 17-13, and the Bisons stayed ahead behind late kills from Brown and Durham. Brown's kill brought set point at 24-18, and the Bisons closed the set 25-18 on an Elizabeth Layson attack error with Brown and Fuchs on the block.

The Royals opened the third set with the first three points, but the Bisons drew even at 4-4 on a block by Fuchs and Kelsey Schenck and moved in front 5-4 on Sydney Strenger's kill. The Royals answered from a 6-6 tie to move ahead 16-12 before Fuchs put down a kill to start the Bisons' push back.

Schenck served four straight Bisons points, including her own ace, as the Bisons took a 17-16 lead, and after the Royals tied it at 17, kills by Durham and Brown helped the Bisons go ahead 20-17. Brown added two more kills down the stretch, Schenck put the Bisons ahead 24-19, and McCarthy closed the 25-20 set with a kill from Schenck.
