NASHVILLE – The Lipscomb men's basketball team returns to action Saturday night hosting the 147th installment of the "Battle of the Boulevard" as Belmont comes to Allen Arena for a 7 p.m. tip.
Lipscomb will look to keep the momentum going after its overtime win on Wednesday against SEMO.
The game from Don Meyer Court will be aired live on ESPN+ with father-son duo Jonathan and Justin Seamon calling the action.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Lipscomb owns a 75-71 series lead against Belmont all-time.
  • The Bruins have won four straight in the series, after Lipscomb took both meetings in 2017-18.
  • Belmont knocked off the Bisons 73-67 at Allen Arena in the first meeting of 2019.
  • In the second meeting last season, the Bruins hit four free throws in the final 20 seconds to escape with an 80-75 victory at the Curb.

  • Belmont enters the weekend 4-1 on the year with wins over Howard, George Mason, Queens (NC) and Tennessee State.
  • The Bruins defeated Tennessee State, 79-64, Tuesday.
  • Junior Luke Smith scored 23 points, while junior Nick Muszynski added 22 points and 11 rebounds. Belmont limited Tennessee State to 38 percent shooting while forcing 14 turnovers.
  • Smith leads the OVC scoring (20.2 ppg) among players who have played multiple games, while ranking among national leaders in 3-point field goals and steals. He was named OVC Newcomer of the Week following his opening weekend performance which earned DC Paradise Jam Most Valuable Player honors.
  • Muszynski has 57 career double figure scoring games and is one of only three post players in America to score 975 or more points over the last two seasons.
  • Junior guard Grayson Murphy has already recorded three double figure rebounding games this season, including two of his 11 career double-doubles. The reigning OVC Defensive Player of the Year ranked second in the OVC in rebounding (9.6 rpg) and is on pace to threaten OVC career records in assists and steals.

ABOUT THE BISONS
  • Lipscomb features a balanced attack early in the season, with four players scoring in double figures, six players averaging at least 5.0 points and seven players averaging at least 10 minutes per game.
  • Junior Greg Jones leads the way, averaging 13.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists … He is the team's leading deep threat with 18 made threes – the 13th most in the nation – and is averaging 3.0 made triples per game … The guard is shooting at a 42.9 percent clip from deep, the 2nd-best mark in the ASUN … His 202 minutes of action ranks 26th nationally in D-I.
  • Junior Jake Wolfe put on another show Wednesday with a career high 26 points, including 21 after halftime, and a 12-for-14 night at the free throw line … He is the team's 2nd-leading scorer now at 12.2 points per game, and is also pouring in 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists … He is shooting 50 percent from deep (8-of-16) … His last-second 3-pointer in regulation send the Bisons to OT against SEMO and earned him a No. 5 spot on Sportcenter's Top 10 plays.
  • Grad transfer Romeao Ferguson is averaging 11.5 points and 4.7 rebounds … He was named the ASUN Conference Newcomer of the Week after averaging 16.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in the first two games of the season … He was 6-of-7 from the floor on Wednesday with 12 points, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals … He also leads the team in steals (8).
  • Junior center Ahsan Asadullah is posting 11.5 points, 6.3 boards and 5.2 assists each time out … His 31 total assists are the most of any center in the country – the next closest has 13 … He recorded his first double-double of the season last weekend with 16 points and a career high 10 assists on the road at SEMO … Has scored 10+ points in 31 of his last 33 games.
  • Senior forward Parker Hazen is averaging 5.0 points and 4.8 rebounds; the 3rd-best mark on the team … He is shooting 40.9 percent from the floor and 80.0 percent from the stripe … His 12 made free throws only trail Ferguson and Wolfe … Hazen pulled down a season-high 10 rebounds at Arkansas; just one off his career-high.
  • Sophomore Carson Cary is averaging 5.3 points in just 13.0 minutes per game … His 50.0 clip from three-point range is tied with Wolfe for tops on the team … Proved efficient in the opener with 13 points in 19 minutes and a 3-for-3 line from deep against Lamar.

HERD NOTES
  • The Lipscomb-Belmont rivalry is the closest basketball rivalry in NCAA Division I as the two schools are separated by just two miles. Cincinnati/Xavier and Rice/Houston each sit three miles apart.
  • Lipscomb's 16.2 assists per game lead the ASUN and rank 79th nationally.
  • The team's 1.29 assist-to-turnover ratio is 69th best.
  • The Bisons are the best team in the conference at getting to the line. Lipscomb is tops in the league with 64 made free throws and 98 attempted.
  • Lipscomb returns 10 letter winners and three of its primary starters from a squad that finished 16-16 overall and 9-7 in ASUN
  • Lennie Acuff is in his 2nd season at the helm of the program and his 31st overall as a head coach. His 16 wins last season were the most by a first-year head coach in Lipscomb's Division I era.
