Former Bison Cartwright named to Tennessean's All-Decade high school softball team

NASHVILLE - Former Lady Bison Mimi Cartwright was named to The Tennessean's All-Decade high school softball team. 14 athletes were chosen by the publication as the best players of the mid-state area of the past 10 years.

Cartwright suited up for Goodpasture in high school and was named an All-Mid State First-Team member twice during her career.

She was also a Gatorade Player of the Year nominee and the TSCA Softball Player of the Year in 2013. She batted .574 with four home runs and 38 RBIs during her senior year alone.

As a Bison, Cartwright was a unanimous selection to the All-Freshman Team in 2014. Starting right off the bat as an infielder, she batted .275 with 44 hits, 26 RBI, 17 runs scored, and nine doubles.

Injuries interrupted her career, but she remained an important Bison throughout her time in the Purple and Gold.

Mimi's sister Kelsey was also a standout member of the softball program, as she was twice named to the ASUN All-Conference Team and once to the NFCA All-Region Team.
