MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Two more Lady Bisons were added to the best-of-the-decade list this week as Sarah Higgins and Presley Leebrick were named to the Daily News-Journal's All-Decade Softball Team for Rutherford County.
Leebrick, a freshman outfielder, played for Siegel High School before she suited up for the Purple and Gold.
Leebrick closed out her high school career on a strong note in 2019, notching 94 hits, second most in the state, and being named All-State and the 2019 Offensive Player of the Year in her district. She was also a one-time All-Mid-State, one-time All-County, two-time All-Region, and three-time All-District honoree in her time at Siegel. By the end of her four years, she was ranked in FloSoftball's top-150 national player rankings.
In her first season with Lipscomb, Leebrick led Lipscomb with a .350 batting average through 22 games when the season was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. She had 21 hits, seven RBI, and three stolen bases.
Before her stellar four-year career with the Bisons, Higgins played for Riverdale High School. At Riverdale, Higgins was a three-time All-District honoree, a two-time DNJ Most Valuable Position Player, and a AAA All-Mid-Tenn Second Team member.
Higgins was named All-Conference three seasons during her time in the Purple and Gold: twice on the First Team and once on the Second Team, with a spot on the All-Freshman Team as well. She was a two-time ASUN Player of the Week and made the ASUN All-Tournament Team in 2019 as she led Lipscomb to a conference title and an NCAA Tournament birth.
Over her four years at Lipscomb, she compiled a .300 batting average with 180 hits, 83 runs scored, 40 doubles, 25 home runs, 105 RBI, 301 total bases, 82 walks, and a .502 slugging percentage. She ranks sixth in program history in home runs, seventh in total bases, fourth in walks, and eighth in slugging percentage.
