NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb men's basketball team returns to the court this weekend for another home ASUN series as Florida Gulf Coast visits the Music City.

The Bisons are set to host the Eagles at 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday inside Allen Arena. Both contests will air on ESPN+ with father-son duo Jonathan and Justin Seamon handling the call from Don Meyer Court.

Saturday's game will be the annual Star Wars Day in the Arena with the first 500 fans recieving a free Lipscomb Star Wars-themed shirt.
 

SERIES HISTORY
  • Lipscomb holds a 16-11 edge in the all-time series with FGCU after taking 2-of-3 last season.
  • The home team won all three meetings in 2020, including Lipscomb taking a 68-63 decision in the first round of the ASUN Championship in Nashville.
  • Ahsan Asadullah produced a 40-point, 14-rebound performance against the Eagles in that ASUN quarterfinal game. It was the most points ever scored in Allen Arena by a Bison.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT
  • The Eagles opened ASUN Conference action dropping a pair of contests to league newcomer Bellarmine; FGCU heads to the Music City to face Lipscomb as the two squads have split its previous four meetings with each winning on their respective home courts.
  • Caleb Catto leads FGCU with a team-best 14.8 points per game which also ranks third in the conference; He is joined in double figures by Jalen Warren (11.6 PPG) and Cyrus Largie (11.3 PPG).
  • As a team, FGCU ranks third in the ASUN in assists per game (15.3), is fourth in rebounding margin (+2.3), first in three-point field goal percentage defense (.300) and steals per game (9.3) while ranking fourth in both scoring offense (72.9) and scoring margin (+5.6).
  • Individually, Dakota Rivers leads the way in the conference for blocked shots per game at 1.7 per outing while Eli Abaev is second in rebounds per contest (8.1) and Luis Rolon leads the ASUN in steals per game at 2.4.
  • FGCU secured its first-ever road victory over a Power Five opponent with its 66-62 win at Miami earlier this year; It marked the ASUN's first win over an ACC foe in the last two years.

ABOUT THE BISONS
  • Lipscomb features a balanced attack, with four players scoring in double figures, seven players averaging at least 5.0 points and 12 players averaging at least 10 minutes per game.
  • KJ Johnson leads a group of four players scoring in double figures at 13.6 PPG followed by Ahsan Asadullah (12.9 PPG), Romeao Ferguson (12.9 PPG) and Greg Jones (10.9 PPG)

  • Junior center Ahsan Asadullah is leading the team in rebounding (7.9) and assists (3.6) … He is second on the team in scoring at 12.9 ppg after averaging 15.0 ppg over two games against UNF last weekend ... One of the best passing big men in the country, he is 3rd in the ASUN with 58 total assists, which are the most helpers among any center in the nation … Has pulled down a league-leading four double-doubles this season after totaling an ASUN-leading 15 last season; recorded 16 points and 12 boards Saturday against UNF.
  • Greg Jones averaged 10.5 ppg against the Ospreys last weekend after connecting on 5-of-18 triples and producing 15 points in the opener … His 32 made triples are most on the Bisons and is shooting 36.8 percent from deep …His 30.8 minutes per game are tops on the team.

  • Of Lipscomb's 16 games thus far this season, eight have been decided by 11 points or less.
  • The Bisons are in their 17th season of play in the ASUN Conference after joining the league as a full-time member in 2003-04.
  • Lipscomb's 227 total assists on the year rank 30th in the country. The team's 14.2 assists per game total is the 4th-best total in the ASUN, while its 1.18 assist-turnover ratio is 2nd.
  • The Bisons lead the ASUN in free throws made (216) and attempted (303). Their 71.3 FT percentage ranks third.
