Popova Named ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. - Lipscomb's Kate Popova earned the second ASUN Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor of her career, and first of the 2021 season, announced Wednesday by the league office.

Popova earned this honor after she went 3-1 last week at both the No. 1 Singles and No. 1 Doubles positions.

The senior started the weekend off 2-0 against UT Martin. At first she edged the Skyhawks 6-4 with the assistance of Emma Zakordoniec at the top doubles spot. Later on, she blanked foe Daphne Pratt 6-0 in both sets.
Against Western Kentucky, Popova battled it out in an extra set and brought home the first singles victory of the day; 6-3, 7-6 (3).
