Men's Basketball Set To Host Bluefield State

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb men's basketball team is now in action Saturday at 2 p.m. when the Bisons host Bluefield State College in Allen Arena.
 
The contest will air on ESPN+ with father-son duo Jonathan and Justin Seamon handling the call from Don Meyer Court.


KNOW YOUR OPPONENT
  • Bluefield State competes in NCAA's Division II as a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.
  • The Big Blue comes to town 1-3 on the year, with their lone victory coming Jan. 15 against King University (94-87). With three games postponed, they have only played three games in the month of January.
  • Marquez Cooper leads four players in double figures at 18.3 ppg, followed by Alex Nunnally's 14.5 clip.
  • BSC is averaging 81.8 points each time out and is allowing 93.5 on defense.

  • Romeao Ferguson now leads the team in scoring for the first time this season, is the 5th-leading scorer in the ASUN and the top scoring senior at 13.5 ppg after averaging 19.0 points over his last four games, including a 21-point performance against UNF and a season-high 22-point outing against FGCU last weekend … He has earned two ASUN Newcomer of the Week honors this season, the only weekly awards for any Bison on the year … He has scored in double figures in 16-of-18 outings this season and is now up to 15.0 ppg in conference play … He leads the conference with 26 steals and has swiped at least two in 11 outings … His 48 total rebounds in ASUN games rank 3rd across the league, leading to his 6.0 RPG in league play … Also ranks 2nd overall in FG makes (93), 4th in 3pt FG % (45.7), 6th in FT made (36) and 7th in blocks (11).
  • KJ Johnson ranks second on the Bisons in scoring at 13.0 ppg … Is the ASUN's top 3-point shooter at 51.5% after making 17-of-33 attempts … Ranks 2nd in the league in FT% (84.8), draining 39-of-46 at the stripe … Also averaging 3.3 RPG and has a 1.7 assist-turnover ratio with 31 assists to 18 miscues … He has scored 10+ points in 9-of-12 games… Produced a season-high 25 points against Freed-Hardeman and added a 20-point outing in the opener at Bellarmine.
  • Junior center Ahsan Asadullah was named this week to the midseason watch list for the Lou Henson Award for the nation's top Mid-Major player … Third on the Bisons in scoring at 12.6 ppg, but leads the team with 8.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game … Leads the ASUN in FG made (97), defensive rebounds (109) and total rebounds (144) … He is 2nd in rebounds per game and total assists (64), 3rd in offensive boards (35) and blocks (14) and 5th in FG% (54.8) … Has pulled down a league-leading four double-doubles this season after totaling an ASUN-leading 15 last season … His 5 assists last Saturday against FGCU were a season-high for him in league play.

  • Of Lipscomb's 16 games thus far this season, nine have been decided by 11 points or less.
  • The Bisons are in their 17th season of play in the ASUN Conference after joining the league as a full-time member in 2003-04.
  • Lipscomb's 251 total assists on the year rank 25th in the country. The team's 13.9 assists per game total is the 3rd-best total in the ASUN, while its 1.16 assist-turnover ratio is 2nd.
  • The Bisons lead the ASUN in free throws made (252) and attempted (354). Those totals rank 26th and 25th in the country, respectively.
