Bisons Tennis Blanks Austin Peay 7-0 in Season Opener

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Lipscomb men's tennis team returned to the court Friday in dominating fashion, blanking Austin Peay 7-0 in its season opener at the Evansville Tennis Center.

The Bisons jumped on top early with the doubles point after Maksim Bogdanovich and David Skrabut won 6-4 on the No. 3 line before Gonzalo Garcia-Nieto and Jake Penny clinched on court two, 6-2.

In the final doubles match, top pairing of seniors Jorge Ortegon and Pedro Uribe fought to a 7-5 victory.

In singles action, freshman Carlos Salas-Tulla made quick work of APSU's Thiago Noqueira at the No. 6 position, winning 6-0, 6-2.

After going 9-1 in singles last season as a freshman, Bogdanovich picked up right where he left off by rolling 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 2 line.

Uribe followed suit at No. 3 (6-1, 6-2) to secure the match victory.

Oretgon then won 6-2, 6-2 on the top line and Penny emerged victorious 6-3, 6-3 on court five. Garcia-Nieto gave the Bisons a clean sweep at No. 4 with a 6-7, 6-3, 10-8 decision in a super tiebreaker.

Lipscomb has now won seven straight matches in the series history, winning the last four by 7-0 margins.
