NASHVILLE – Lipscomb volleyball took down Bellarmine in three sets Friday night (25-18, 25-19 and 25-20) to extend its win streak to four matches inside Allen Arena. The win marked the second straight sweep for the Bisons and their third of the regular season.
With the win, the Bisons move to 7-8 overall this season and improve to 4-1 in ASUN Conference action.
It was a balanced attack for the purple and gold with senior Logan Gish leading the way with 13 kills to go along with five digs. Freshman Addi Pelham turned in a career high .435 hitting percentage with 11 kills and only one error in 23 attacks. Joining them in double figures were sophomore Kamryn Bacus and freshman Anna Aubele with 10 kills each. Aubele's total was a career high.
Delaney Dilfer orchestrated the Bisons attack with 37 of the team's 42 assists. The sophomore setter also added six digs and three service aces. Delaney Smith paced the squad with 14 digs from the back row.
Lipscomb trailed only one the entire match, and it just so happened to be the very first point. From that moment forward, it was all Bisons.
The purple and gold used a 10-3 run in the first set to build a 7-point margin. After the Knights battled back to within one, Lipscomb got five quick kills from Pelham and Aubele to stretch it back out to seven before Ashleigh Albert's ace sealed the first set 25-18. Aubele finished with six kills (.400) in the frame, while Gish added five and Bacus four. The Bisons registered 21 digs as well, led by Smith's five.
In the second frame, the Bisons raced out to a 17-9 advantage on another kill from Aubele. The Bisons limited the Knights to just .056 hitting in the set as Pelham and Gish put the set away late, winning 25-19.
The final frame saw Lipscomb hit .290 as a team behind four kills from Pelham and three from Gish. The duo committed just one error on 12 swings. The purple and gold jumped out 5-1 out of the gate and eventually led 15-11 heading to the media timeout. Dilfer put down back-to-back aces to keep the Bisons in front by six until Bacus and Mersman teamed up for the match-sealing block, 25-20.
Lipscomb hit .240 for the match with 47 kills on 121 attacks.
