Track & Field Kicks Off Season With Five New School Records At Hoosier Open

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Lipscomb Track & Field began their 2021-22 season at the Hoosier Open hosted by Indiana University on Friday. The Bisons put on a show in Bloomington, Ind. as four Bisons posted five new school records throughout the day.

Junior Aislinn McElhaney put up two of the records in this first meet of the season. Her time of 9.06 in the 60m hurdles was good for 4th place and her distance of 5.65 meters in the long jump saw her to 5th place.

Kennedy Miller earned a new school record in the 60m dash with her time of 7.79 seconds which earned her 3rd in the event. Bella Jackson logged the fourth new school record as she posted a height of 1.72 meters in the high jump event to finish 2nd out of twelve competitors. Kendall Long was the fourth Bison to post a new school record as she finished 7th in the women's 500m run with a time of  1:17.23, eclipsing the previous record of 1:20.41.

Ahmed Amaar placed 1st in the men's 200m dash with a time of 21.91, followed by teammates Deven Ward and Malik Baker in 3rd and 10th respectively.

Other notable finishes include Jonathan Imes' 2nd place finish in the men's 400m (48.17), Malik Baker's 3rd in the men's 60m hurdles (8.86), and the men's relay squad earning 2nd in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:26.98.

In total, Lipscomb finished with 14 top-5 finishes and 22 top-10 placements at the Gladstein Fieldhouse.
