NASHVILLE, TN – Lipscomb stayed local to compete at the Outdoor Music City Challenge this weekend, hosted by Vanderbilt. Despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions throughout the meet, the Bisons made notable finishes in their final regular season meet.
Levi Streeval set a program record in the Men's 1500m, finishing first overall among 46 athletes. Streeval crossed the finish in 3:40.50 to sit atop the history books for the Bisons.
Harley Kletz and
Matt Hansen also joined in on the fun with gold-medal finishes of their own. Kletz finished the Women's 3k in 9:38.14 while Hansen finished the Men's 3k in 8:14.85.
The Bisons dominated in both the Women's and Men's 3k races. After Kletz,
Carmen Krawczynski Gonzalez finished in 9:45.17 to claim second.
Kaylee Wilson (9:47.44) and
Aly Negovetich (9:49.95) crossed in tandem for third and fourth place.
For the men,
Cole Kimmel finished closely after Hansen in 8:25.43 to secure third.
Ben Butcher (8:32.76) sealed fourth after which
Andy Stohr (8:34.88) and
Evan Allen (8:38.92) crossed for fifth and sixth place.
Makayla Watson showed out in the Invite Women's 100m, crossing second in the preliminary round with a time of 11.79 to qualify for the finals. Watson ended up placing third in the final, crossing in 11.78.
Braeden Ofosu-Kwarteng earned silver in the Men's 400m, earning a time of 46.31.
Several other athletes secured third place in the respective events, including
Jaden Mathews (5.58, Women's Long Jump),
Justin Davis (7.11, Men's Long Jump), and
Mackenzie Barnett (4:19.79 Women's 1500m).
UP NEXT
Lipscomb will take on the postseason, competing at the ASUN Outdoor Championships from Thursday, May 15
th through Saturday, May 17
th. The tournament will be held in Jacksonville, FL.
