NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb men's basketball returns to the Sunshine State this weekend for two games against Jacksonville.
 
The Bisons (12-9, 6-4 ASUN) and Dolphins (9-11, 3-7) will tip off at 6 p.m. CT Friday and 5 p.m. CT Saturday, with both games being streamed on ESPN+.
 

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT
  • Of Jacksonville's 10 ASUN games this season, seven have been decided by six points or less; The average point differential in the Dolphins' seven games decided by six points or less is 3.7 points per game as two have been determined by one point and one by two points.
  • The Dolphins are looking to snap a seven-game losing streak as they welcome the Bisons to Swisher Gymnasium; Jacksonville and Lipscomb have split the last two contests between the two programs with each team winning on its opponent's home court.
  • Bryce Workman ranks sixth in the conference as he is shooting 52.2 percent from the field and is ninth in rebounds (6.1 RPG).
  • Three Dolphins average double figures in points led by Dontarius James' 17.0 points per game which also leads the league; Kevion Nolan (16.6 PPG) and Tyreese Davis (11.2 PPG) are the other two.
  • Of the four 30-point games in the league this season, three come from JAX players James (2) and Nolan (1); James is also tied for the most 20-point games this season (7) in the league. 
 
ABOUT THE BISONS
  • Romeao Ferguson leads the team offensively and is the top senior scorer in the ASUN at 13.9 ppg … He's averaged 18.3 points over his last six outings, including three 20-point games … In league games, he's pouring in 15.4 ppg, the 4th-highest total in the conference and ranks 5th with a 44.0 three-point percentage … He earned his 3rd ASUN Newcomer of the Week honor Monday, the only weekly awards for any Bison on the year, after averaging a double-double with 17.0 ppg, 10.0 rpg and 4.0 apg in split games at Stetson … Pulled down his first double-double of the year on Saturday with 20 points and 12 boards in a win … He has scored in double figures in 18-of-20 outings this season … He leads the conference with 28 steals and has swiped at least two in 11 outings.
  • Junior center Ahsan Asadullah, named to the midseason watch list for the Lou Henson Award for the nation's top Mid-Major player, ranks 2nd on the Bisons in scoring at 13.1 ppg, but leads the team with 7.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game … Totaled his third 20-point game on Friday after going 9-of-13 from the floor with 9 rebounds against the Hatters …Leads the ASUN in FG made (118), defensive rebounds (125) and total rebounds (164) … He is 2nd in rebounds per game, FG% (56.2) and in total assists (75) … Has pulled down a league-leading four double-doubles this season after totaling an ASUN-leading 15 last season … His 5 assists Saturday at Stetson match a season-high for him in league play.
  • KJ Johnson ranks third on the Bisons in scoring at 12.0 ppg … Ranks 2nd in the ASUN in 3-point shooting (47.4) after making 18-of-38 attempts and in FT% (83.3), draining 50-of-60 at the stripe … Also averaging 3.3 RPG and has a 1.4 assist-turnover ratio with 34 assists to 25 miscues … He has scored 10+ points in 10-of-15 games… Produced a season-high 25 points against Freed-Hardeman and added a 20-point outing in the opener at Bellarmine.

HERD NOTES
  • Of Lipscomb's 20 games thus far this season, 10 have been decided by 11 points or less.
  • The Bisons are in their 17th season of play in the ASUN Conference after joining the league as a full-time member in 2003-04.
  • Lipscomb is the lone league team to defeat Bellarmine this season when the Bisons swept the Knights on opening weekend.
  • In a series that dates back to 2004, Lipscomb holds a 21-15 advantage over Jacksonville as the Bisons have won five of the last six contests.
  • Lipscomb's 300 total assists on the year rank 28th in the country. The team's 14.3 assists per game and 1.15 assist-turnover ratio are the 2nd-best totals in the ASUN.
  • The Bisons lead the ASUN in free throws made (286) and attempted (403). Those totals rank 35th and 30th in the country, respectively.
  • Lipscomb shoots it from deep at a 37.3 percent clip, the best mark in the ASUN and 47th in the country.
  • Asadullah's 164 total rebounds are the 27th most across Division I.
  • The Bisons are one of the best teams in the country at committing a low number of fouls. Their 13.4 personal fouls per game are the 4th-fewest in DI.
  • Lennie Acuff is in his 2nd season at the helm of the program and his 31st overall as a head coach. His 16 wins last season were the most by a first-year head coach in Lipscomb's Division I era.
