
Bisons fall to North Alabama 3-1 in road action

FLORENCE, Ala. – Lipscomb volleyball fell to 6-2 Tuesday night after dropping a 3-1 decision to North Florida. The Lions improved to 1-4.
The match got off to a competitive start with both teams trading points. After trailing early, Meg Mersman delivered a monster kill to tie things 1-1.
Mersman's kill sparked a 9-4 Bisons run to take commanding 14-9 lead. Lipscomb kept the momentum rolling and delivering kills.
With a 10-point lead, an impressive block capped off a quick first set as the Bisons took it 25-14.
North Alabama jumped out to an early 5-2 lead in the second set and eventually lead 22-19. Lipscomb battled back and tied things up 22-22 but were unable to get over the hump. The Bisons eventually dropped the second set 25-23.
Lanie Wagner came out of the gate hot for the Bisons with a massive kill to open up the third set.
The squads traded punches throughout the third set, but Lipscomb kept the lead 16-12. The end of the set was a back-and-forth affair with North Alabama going on a 9-4 run to take the lead. Down 21-20, Lipscomb fought back with stout defense to take a 23-22 late in the set.
However, North Alabama caught fire at the end of the third and won the set 26-24.
The Lions momentum continued through the fourth set to take a 23-20 lead. After a timeout, North Alabama scored two quick points for the 25-20 set win.
North Alabama ultimately defeated Lipscomb 3-1 for its first win of the season.

The Bisons will be back in action Friday, Feb. 26 at Allen Arena against Bellarmine.
