Box Score KENNESAW – Another big fourth-quarter comeback for Lipscomb Women's Basketball propelled the Bisons to a 50-47 win over Stetson at the ASUN Championship Thursday afternoon on the campus of Kennesaw State.
Dorie Harrison lead the way for Lipscomb, pouring in a career-high 18 points and adding eight rebounds.
Jordan Peete also contributed double-digits while
Jane Deason and
Taylor Clark combined for 16 points.
The Bisons got off to a quick start as Deason nailed a triple to open up Lipscomb's scoring. She stayed hot from behind the arc, tying the game 8-8 with another three-pointer.
The first frame was highlighted by back-and-forth action. Stetson began to catch fire from behind the arc, hitting another triple to end the quarter with a 19-13 lead.
Blythe Pearson started the second quarter off strong for Lipscomb with a triple to spark momentum.
The Bisons continued to go on a 6-0 run capped off by another deep ball from Peete to tie the game 19-19.
Stetson stopped the Lipscomb run and went on a 5-0 run of their own to take a 24-19 lead at the 6:06 mark of the second quarter.
Lipscomb struggled from the field for the remainder of the half, but a strong defensive performance to round out the half kept the Bisons within striking distance. Lipscomb went into the halftime break down by just five (26-21).
The Bisons continued to battle to start the second half. Lipscomb's first points of the frame came from
Jalyn Holcomb who drained the squad's fifth triple of the game to get the Bisons back within a possession (24-27).
Stetson came to life, going on a 7-0 lead to extend its lead 36-26.
At the end of the third, Clark broke a five-minute Lipscomb scoring drought with a driving layup to cut the lead 28-36.
With her senior season hanging in the balance, Clark continued to propel Lipscomb as she sparked an 8-3 run.
Back within a posession, Deason nailed a three pointer to tie the game 44-44 with just over a minute left in regulation.
The Bisons forced a Stetson turnover with 45 seconds left in the game to give Lipscomb the chance to go ahead. A Lipscomb three at the end of regulation wouldn't go and the game would head into overtime.
Harrison was red hot in overtime, giving Lipscomb its first lead of the game converting two free throws to give the Bisons a 46-44 lead.
Harrison single handedly took over the game and scored all of Lipscomb's points in the overtime period, propelling the Bisons to the quarterfinal victory.
The Bisons ultimately defeated the Hatters 50-47.
