ATLANTA, Ga. -- Lipscomb's Courtney Brenner was voted the 2021 Spring ASUN Conference Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She shared the honor with Liberty's Calli Doan. 
 
Brenner, the only unanimous selection to the 2021 ASUN Conference Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team, boasts a 4.00 cumulative GPA as a Dietetics major. 
 
She placed fourth at the 2021 ASUN Championship with her time of 18:06.7 which earned her an invitation to the NCAA Cross Country Championship. She was the first female Bison in program history to make an appearance at the event. 
 
In addition, Patrick Smith and Brent Leber were named to the 2021 ASUN Conference Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team. 
 
Smith was a unanimous selection to the team. 2021 marks the second time he has been selected to the All-Academic Team. The senior boasts a 4.00 GPA while studying Political Science. He finished eighth in the ASUN Championship and also had a top-10 finish at the Belmont Opener. 
 
The selection also marks the second for Leber who holds a 3.96 GPA in Organizational Leadership. Leber finished fourth at the Belmont Opener and 13^th at the Lipscomb Winter Classic. 
 
The All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. All members of the team must boast a 3.00 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's events.
