NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb Cross Country swept the team titles at the Michael Pretorius Memorial Invitational on Saturday morning at Percy Warner Park, with both the men's and women's squads taking first place in convincing fashion.
Men's 8k Recap
The Bisons dominated the men's race from the gun, placing four runners inside the top five and seven inside the top 10. Freshman Joe Ponter picked up his first collegiate win, crossing the line in 25:21.93 to lead the pack. He was closely followed by Trey Haralson in second at 25:34.47, and Andy Stohr in fourth at 25:37.55.
Depth proved to be the story for Lipscomb, as Bing Hudson (5th, 25:38.97), Will Goodrich (6th, 25:39.20), and Cole Kimmel (7th, 25:43.37) all finished within seconds of each other. Dade Humes rounded out the top 10 with a ninth-place finish in 25:55.99, giving the Bisons eight scorers in the top 10.
Women's 5k Recap
The women's squad was equally strong, placing five runners inside the top 11. Freshman Mallory Bigelow led the way with a runner-up finish in 18:33.63, followed by freshman Addi Greene in third at 18:47.20 and Brinkley Cooper in fourth at 19:03.15.
The Bisons sealed the team win with a tight pack that included Lydia Cromwell (9th, 19:33.21), Maggie Bellamy (10th, 19:37.71), and Bethany Wright (11th, 19:39.88), all crossing within seconds of each other.
