NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After a strong showing at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala., three Lipscomb Cross Country runners have been recognized by the ASUN Conference with weekly honors. Levi Streeval, Joe Ponter, and Lauren Eilers each earned league awards following their standout performances against some of the top programs in the region.
Junior Levi Streeval was named ASUN Men's Runner of the Week after pacing the Bisons in the men's 8k. Streeval clocked a time of 23:57.03, good for 16th place overall in a deep field that featured nationally-ranked competition. His performance not only led the Lipscomb squad but also marked one of the strongest outings of his career, setting the tone for the team's competitive effort.
Freshman Joe Ponter picked up ASUN Men's Freshman of the Week honors with an impressive performance at the Southern Showcase. Ponter finished 40th overall with a time of 24:36.41, placing him among the top freshmen in the event. His ability to step into a leadership role so early in his career has provided valuable depth for a men's squad with high expectations this fall.
On the women's side, freshman Lauren Eilers earned ASUN Women's Freshman of the Week. Eilers crossed the line in 75th place with a time of 17:55.57 in the women's 5k race. Her performance contributed to Lipscomb's top-10 team finish and showcased the promise she brings to a Bisons program that continues to develop young talent.
The trio's recognition gives Lipscomb its first set of weekly ASUN honors this season, underlining the program's depth and momentum as both the men's and women's teams build toward conference competition.
The Bisons will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20, when they travel down the street to compete in Trevecca's Michael Pretorius Invitational.
