Bisons Post Strong Performances Across Two States at Angel Mounds and Nuttycombe Invitationals

EVANSVILLE, IN & MADISON, WI – Lipscomb cross country split squads this weekend, competing at both the Angel Mounds Invitational in Evansville, Indiana, and the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin. Both groups showcased the program's depth and competitiveness, as the Bisons earned impressive finishes against talented regional and national fields.


Angel Mounds Invitational (Evansville, IN)

At the Angel Mounds Invitational, the Bisons delivered standout performances across the board. The men's team placed second overall out of 17, while the women's team secured ninth place out of 19.

Leading the men, Will Goodrich turned in another strong performance with a fourth-place finish (24:17.62). He was closely followed by a tightly packed group of Bisons — Cole Kimmel (9th, 24:24.70)Bing Hudson (10th, 24:30.98)Trey Haralson (11th, 24:33.51), and Andy Stohr (17th, 24:41.44) — as all five scorers finished inside the top 20.

Also competing for Lipscomb were Jaden Hillis (46th, 25:19.56)TJ Jones (54th, 25:25.10)Sam Widmaier (78th, 25:45.60)Brennan Kaplan (106th, 26:16.56)Gavin Bacus (165th, 27:14.68), and Corban McGaughey (178th, 27:45.73).

On the women's side, Grace McGuckin led the Bisons with a 16th-place finish (21:51.48) in the 6k. Addi Greene (28th, 22:10.62) and Brinkley Cooper (40th, 22:23.49) followed closely, while Carly Miller (98th, 23:54.12) and Juane' Klaus (99th, 23:54.66) rounded out the scoring effort. Maggie Bellamy (111th, 24:08.03) and Bethany Wright (123rd, 24:27.18) also contributed solid times to cap off a strong team performance.


Nuttycombe Invitational (Madison, WI)

Meanwhile, another group of Bisons competed at the Nuttycombe Invitational, one of the most competitive meets in the nation, hosted by the University of Wisconsin. Lipscomb faced elite programs from across the country and rose to the challenge on the championship-caliber course.

The men's team finished 21st out of 32 teams, paced by Chase Atkins (73rd, 24:10.1). He was followed by Matt Hansen (104th, 24:31.9)Brady Yingst (114th, 24:34.9)James Schmidt (127th, 24:40.4), and Levi Streeval (150th, 24:56.0) to complete the scoring five. Rounding out the lineup were Joe Ponter (170th, 25:10.3) and Max Hooper (191st, 25:31.1).

On the women's side, the Bisons placed 29th out of 30 teams against a stacked field. Mia Bergman led the way with a 106th-place finish (21:10.9), followed by Linda Perez (124th, 21:22.0)Harley Kletz (143rd, 21:33.3)Ellie Brewer (155th, 21:42.0), and Aly Negovetich (205th, 22:32.3)Lydia Cromwell (215th, 23:11.6) and Lauren Eilers (217th, 23:26.8) also contributed for the Bisons.

Lipscomb cross country will return to competition on October 31 at the ASUN Cross Country Championships, looking to carry their momentum from a successful weekend into postseason competition.
