LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Lipscomb softball coach Kristin Ryman likes what she is seeing from her team.

The Lady Bisons have won three of their last four games as they head into Wednesday's ASUN game with Bellarmine at Knights Field.

Lipscomb is 13-13, 2-4 in the conference. Bellarmine is 6-20, 1-8 in the ASUN.

This is the first meeting between the two schools in softball.

"I think on the whole we saw a lot of positive growth this past weekend," Ryman said. "It has taken time for us to gel. We know we can compete. Laura Dukes (assistant coach) said the other day from a coaching perspective we are not the same team right now that we were in February. That's a good thing.

"As drastically different as we are now from the team in February, we have another month to play. In that time if we keep our heads down, keep working and keep buying in we will see this team continue to grow."

Bellarmine does not have a hitter batting at the .300 level. Sydney Young leads the way with a .284 average and 16 runs batted in.

Carson Goatley (4-7) leads the pitching staff with a 2.95 earned run average. She has 54 strikeouts in 78.1 innings.

For Lipscomb, Kamrie Rich has taken over the hitting lead with a .361 average. She has two home runs, 14 RBI and a team-high seven game hitting streak. She is ranked fifth this week in the ASUN standings.

Leadoff batter Amy Vetula is hitting at a .345 clip with 12 RBI and a team leading 13 stolen bases.

Caitlin Turner is batting .300 with 10 RBI.

Olivia Ward leads the team in RBI with 16.

Breana Burke (9-5) has posted a 2.32 ERA. She is tied for fourth in wins in the ASUN.

Maddie Siemer is 2-2 with 40 strikeouts in 43 innings. Her 2.12 ERA is tied for third in the conference.

Katie Turner and Emily Yakubowski are adjusting to being back in the circle after injuries. Laine Barefoot is still sidelined.

"We need our pitching depth to be better," Ryman said. "That is one of our big challenges right now.

"One of the things we are trying to work through is getting through some of these injuries and getting people back fully healthy and fully capable of doing what they can in the circle for us."
